Strewth, throw a snag on the barbie and welcome to our 100 per cent Australian-made issue. It’s our annual issue that is 100 per cent written, styled, designed, edited, sub-edited, pre-pressed and printed by Australians (i.e. us). OK, you could technically argue that every issue of Girlfriend is made by us (and yeah, you’d be right), but this issue is also full of truly inspiring, fashionable and hot young Aussies doing their thing and being darn nice about it too.

Now, before I "rack off" and quit the bad Aussie slang (sorry, it’s fun), the point of all of this as we count down to Australia Day is to celebrate some of the things that are awesome about this country. We've found you 14 new faces to watch in 2011. Some of them you will be familiar with and some you won’t, but they are all Australians we should be proud of. Obviously our cover girl, the gorgeous Samantha Harris – a Girlfriend Model Search finalist from 2004 and one of the few indigenous models working in this country – is on the list (expect to see a whole lot more of her in 2011), but turn to page 24 to find out who else made the cut.
